Earlier this month, our Wichita branch moved into its new home. We recently completed the transition to our new location at 350 S. Tracy St. and will now occupy a space of nearly 100,000 square feet. This is a significant increase from the 27,000 square foot space we had previously occupied on Pawnee St. since 2012. Our growth in Wichita over the past decade has translated into an increase in inventory as well as personnel, and we were simply out of room. When the building on Tracy St. became available, we felt it was time to make the jump into a facility of that size for several reasons: 1) we liked the location and highway access, 2) the additional warehouse space will allow us to continue to grow and build our inventory, 3) the additional office space will allow for growth in personnel, 4) we have space to offer job storage services to our customers, 5) we have space for a future wire cut center, 6) we have larger training and lab space.
The success of our company is directly related to our customers’ success, and we are making these investments to help drive our customers’ success.
Many Hands . . . Light(er) Work
Moving the store was no small achievement. It took a lot of planning and a lot of help to accomplish the task with minimal disruption for our customers. In fact, we were only closed for a Friday, and were open for business the following Monday morning. However, there was a lot of work that took place prior to the actual move date. Most of the shelving and pallet racking was moved in the weeks prior to the actual move, as were most of the offices. We had roughly 45 people pitch in, including help and trucks from some of our other Stanion branches, over the course of a weekend to help move all our inventory and equipment. The move went smoothly thanks to the efforts of multiple employees putting in some long days in the weeks prior to the move.
